Meet Elle

Howdy all - J here. Christina asked me to pop by and post a picture of our new baby daughter.

We are pleased to introduce Elle Jane Maxfield. She was born this morning at 11:55 and weighed in at 6 lbs 14 oz. She was 18.5 inches long. And we think she's kinda neat.

Mom and daughter are in good health and great spirits.

More photos will be available soon at ellemaxfield.com. We appreciate all your love and support.

Crazy or Smart?

So I am trying to decide if I am crazy or smart? Today at my doctors appointment I was given the choice of being induced on Monday March 31. Of course I said, "yes, please." Now I am having some hesitation because they would call me on Monday sometime, they say if possible in the morning, but it could be in the middle of the night as well. I really don't want to go through labor all night again(Amber was born at 6:06 AM). If they would just tell be to come at 9:00 and that I would have her on the 31st, preferably before 12:00 April 1, then I would be all about it(I think). Then of course maybe she isn't ready and I should let her cook longer, but oh how much longer? Hopefully she will just decide to come before that and I won't have a choice of time or date. I guess with all this modern medicine I am lucky to have choices but I still don't know what to do. You have all heard me complain so what do you think?
Here is what I look like to help you better weigh in.

Big Girl Bed Update

Amber has been sleeping in her big girl bed the last three nights! I am really excited about this and she seems to like it too. The first night we had two sad times, but really I was expecting it to be a lot harder. I really think that having her nap in it first was really good for her. The next trick is to get her to actually sleep in the covers so she isn't all over the place. And everyone cross your fingers that it will continue to go well after the baby arrives (whenever that is, I am a ticking time bomb).

If I wouldn't eat it...

So I made Amber some Easy Mac and Cheese because I was all out of the Spiral Mac and Cheese that she likes. She took a lick of it and made a sour face. Then she said, "Mama get some." Normally I do eat it with her so that wasn't an unusual request. I brought some over and took a bit as she watched on and took a bit herself. I could barely even keep it in my mouth, it was so nasty. She made a crunched up face and then spit hers out into her bowl and I followed suit. If I wouldn't eat it then I couldn't make her. I have made it before but I thought that by using milk instead of water that it would be better for Amber. I hadn't kept the box but I thought I remembered it saying that you could do that, but now I am thinking not so much. If so I would not recommend it to anyone. I actually wouldn't recommend the microwave kind at all, stick to the box stuff - it is pretty hard to mess that up. OK so I know that the microwave kind was made so kids could do it themselves. What can I say besides I just can't follow easy directions or that stuff is just really nasty. Let's go with the second option for me. Thanks.

Park time and Dancing

Here are two videos of Amber. One is of her playing in the sandbox and the other is of her dancing with her Papa.

Amazingly she likes to play in the sand - but she doesn't like when it gets on her.

She loves to dance with Papa.

Mommy brush ya teeth

So apparently I had some really bad morning breath this morning because after being summoned by Amber in her crib at 7 am the first thing she said to me was "Mommy brush ya teeth." I told her I would after I had a shower and ate some breakfast. She didn't let it go with that -she asked me if I was going to brush my teeth another 4 times. I guess when you are being held right in the death zone of morning breath you would try and get it resolved too. There are days that her little breath isn't the most pleasant either so I guess I can sympathize with her. It just made me laugh that a 2 year old was telling me I had bad breath. I can't wait tell she starts making more observations to others in public.

Poor sick little girl

So Amber has had this cough thing for the last couple of days so I took her to the doctor today to see what was up. She has croup and two ear infections. Poor sick little girl. She has been acting a little sick with a cough and runny nose but I would have never guessed that she had really bad ear infections too. We left the doctors office with four prescriptions. I just hope that she gets better soon.
