Happy Birthday

Today is J's birthday. Happy Birthday honey, I only wish we could get you what Amber wanted to.

Conversation with Amber a couple of weeks ago:

Me: Amber, Papa's birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. What do you think we should get him?

Amber: Uh, I think we should get him a new car. His is getting a little beat up and it is kinda small.

Me: Well, I am sure he would love a new car, but I don't think we can get him that for his birthday this year.

Amber: Maybe when baby brother comes he can get a new car for his birthday

Mad Princess!

Amber wanted to get dressed up like a princess this morning. And just what does Princess Amber look like?


There's a certain practicality about her princess-ness that I appreciate. Shortly thereafter, she had morphed into Mad Scientist Amber.

I think I prefer the latter.

Pictures of late

I thought that I had better take a minute and share some of the pictures of the last couple of weeks. We haven't been up to much really, just the usual, but here are some pictures anyway.

Amber resting in a big box. How is it that kids can spend hours — yes hours — playing with a box?! It was fine with me; I used the time to clean up around the house. But I was surprised how long it kept them (mainly Amber) entertained.

Papa portrait

So for the last week or so Amber has been trying her skills at drawing instead of just coloring or scribbling. I don't know how it exactly came about but she has been drawing pictures of J (her papa). The first time that I saw one of her portraits of him I just couldn't help but laugh. They turn out a little different every time but for the most part this is how they look:

This is only his face, mind you, but I think she has some talent don't you? This one doesn't have as much facial hair as most of the others that she has drawn (on her doodler) but I thought that I had better get some pictures to share and to remember by. Is is just me or does this one kind of look like an otter (the others have looked more like jelly beans)?
